GéNIA has been nominated for the Future Classic Women Awards by the Women’s Radio Station

Recently GéNIA has been nominated for & became a finalist in the Future Classic Women Awards by Women’s Radio Station.  It happened as she gave an extensive interview to the wonderful charismatic host, who is also a concert pianist and a voting member of the Recording Academy/Grammy’s, Stefania Passamonte.

They talked  about many things: GéNIA’s new album Babylon, her family history, the current education system, politics (yes, this was also in the conversation!)  and some of the funny moments in GéNIA’scareer.

There are many other amazing women musicians who have been nominated, and, seriously speaking, we truly believe that it is almost impossible to compare original artists, as every talent is unique and this is what makes us all special.

However, if you would like to hear the show and also help GéNIA to win, please listen and share  the recording of the interview from the Sound Cloud below, as the winner will be determined by the amount of plays each interview has received.

You can also nominate your winner by writing to Stefania Passamonte, Women’s Radio Station, 16 Jermyn Street, St James, London, SW1Y 6ST or tweet your nomination to https://twitter.com/@womensradiostn.

Your support is invaluable to GéNIA. Thank you!

New Show is Announced! GéNIA: Babylon

The tickets will go on sale for general public on the 1st April 2019 here

Described by The Times as ‘an outstanding musician’, the Russian born composer and a concert pianist GéNIA has had to announce another show as a result of her sold out performance of ‘Babylon’ earlier this year. The show is celebrating the launch of GéNIA’s new album ‘Babylon’, which is released on the 29 March as a musical reference to the historical period during which the glowing Babylon region progressed to the most advanced level, only to be destroyed by its own residents, those who wish to listen to the album can use the Youtube to Mp3 to download the songs.

By drawing attention to the past, GéNIA hopes that her audience will become more aware of the parallels to events which our society is going through today, in order to prevent the decline of its current highly advanced state.

Two of the pieces from the album enjoyed placements in the critically acclaimed BBC America TV Series ‘Killing Eve’ and the popular British TV Series ‘Cold Feet’.

Acknowledging her cultural inheritance, GéNIA would also like to include in the concert some of the popular classical works which influenced her as a composer, as she strongly believes that beautiful music is always currant, and there is no need to separate classical and contemporary genres for her audience.

An enigma in the music world, GéNIA loves to blur the boundaries between classical and popular music. Her music has been broadcast on Classic FM, BBC Radio 2, 3, 4, BBC Radio London 94.9 and BBC Proms, with London performances at the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Southbank Centre, Olympia, Kings Place, St John’s Smith Square and St Martin-in-the-Fields, to name just a few.

Date: 9 May 2019/ Time 8:00pm Address: The Other Palace, 12 Palace Street, London, SW1E 5JA Tickets: £20.00 booked via the venue

GéNIA releases ‘Babylon’ video

I am delighted to announce the release of my music video ‘Babylon’. Directed by the British filmmaker Mat Green, Babylon was filmed in and around the streets of London.

The name ‘Babylon’ was chosen as a historical reference to Babylon’s development to the most advanced level across various periods, in culture, art, science, architecture, commerce and other disciplines, during which it kept getting attacked, and was ultimately destroyed. As a result, all the wonders of the Hanging Gardens, proclaimed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the reputation of the region as the highest centre of learning and scientific understanding as well as a highly successful commercial centre, were destroyed.

I hope that by drawing attention to the past, people will be made more aware of the parallel with what we are going through in our society today.

The track is available on iTunes,  AmazonGoogle Play as well as on Spotify and many other digital channels. The sheet music can be ordered from this website.

Enjoy!

Love,

GéNIA

Screening of 22:22

'Tom bubbles wider medium' from the film 22:22

Following GéNIA’s debut as a voice-over artist, as well as her performance on the soundtrack for the film 22:22, there will be a screening of the film at Rio Cinema, Dalston, London on the 22nd April at 4pm. This short film was made by the British director Charlotte Ginsborg, with music by Gabriel Prokofiev and choreography by Kirill Burlov. GéNIA enjoyed her collaboration with the director, choreographer and dancers, and especially with the composer Gabriel Prokofiev, continuing their creative collaboration, which has been going for many years now. GéNIA also enjoyed the role of voice-over artist for the film, telling the story behind the scenes during the whole movie, as it brought back memories of the times  when she performed as an actor in her native Ukraine.

Synopsis

22:22 paints a vivid portrait of Tom Sietas, a world record holder in static apnea, (holding one’s breath underwater). His record stands at a phenomenal 22 minutes 22 seconds. The film combines evocative underwater photography of a record attempt with a contemporary dance performed to a live piano score that were devised for the film. As the tension of the record attempt mounts the story that links the two activities is revealed through the pianist’s live narration. The film interweaves documentary and fiction to reveal what drives Tom to push his body to such extraordinary physical extremes. For Tom, to deny breath is to ultimately find life.

GéNIA’s new single ‘Babylon’ is due for worldwide release on the 13 September 2017

GéNIA’s next single ‘Babylon’ is due to be released on the 13th September worldwide.
To celebrate this, GéNIA will be performing at Caffè Nero BBC Broadcasting House as part of ‘Get Loud’ Campaign for Nordoff Robbins Charity on that day. The show will start at midday, presented by BBC Radio London’s eminent Jo Good, and kindly sponsored by Yamaha.

The name ‘Babylon’ was chosen as a reference  to the advanced ancient civilisation which was repeatedly challenged by being regularly attacked and almost destroyed; however, many times it managed to rebuild itself, each time to a higher level.

GéNIA is hoping that by looking back into the past, her audience can link that period to the challenging times our society is currently experiencing. The single is already available for pre-order and  is a track from her new album ‘Babylon’ which is due to be released later this autumn.

Recorded in the famous pop studio Sleeper Sounds, the recording home for Robbie Williams, Oli Murs and Casabian to name just a few, on their lovely Steinway piano, GéNIA worked with the most wonderful team, starting with six-times Emmy nominee and two time BAFTA winner, executive producer Nigel Heath, producer Hayden Parsey, sound engineer Billy Halliday, pre-mastering team Nigel Heath, Brad Rees and James Ryan with mastering by Cicely Balson at Air Studios, London.

‘Babylon’ will be available worldwide on iTunes, Amazon, Google player, Spotify & Diesel, as well as on many other streaming channels.

You can already pre-view the track on iTunes and hear it live at GéNIA’s show at the BBC Caffè Nero on Wednesday on the 13th at midday. The entrance is free. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

GéNIA’s performance at Caffe Nero BBC on ‘Get Loud’ Nordoff Robbins National Charity Day

Performing her signature minimalist sounds interspersed with Russian romance, pianist GéNIA will perform on the 13th of September at Caffè Nero – ‘Get Loud’ campaign – in support of music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins’ annual awareness day. She has also chosen this day to release her new single ‘Babylon’ worldwide. At the end of her show, GéNIA will be signing her albums.

GéNIA’s music has been played on BBC, Classic FM and in all Caffè Nero coffee houses as feature Artist of the Month.

Once again she’ll feature in Caffè Nero, but this time as part of the most ambitious music project yet – Get Loud. GéNIA will be one of hundreds of artists performing at midday on September 13 in Caffè Nero coffee houses across the UK.

Nordoff Robbins uses the power of music to raise awareness of their incredible music therapy services, which change the lives of thousands of vulnerable and isolated people across the UK.

On Wednesday 13 September, Caffè Nero will host hundreds of in-store acoustic ‘Get Loud Coffee Shop Session’ performances simultaneously at midday.
