GéNIA to take part in ‘Play Piano for the Planet’ 16 April

ClimateKeys is a global initiative with a no-fly policy and has so far triggered over 60 events in 13 countries in which musicians and climate change experts collaborate to lead discussion on action on climate change. ClimateKeys is pleased to create PIANO FOR THE PLANET to support Extinction Rebellion’s mass peaceful civil action commencing on 15th April.

ABOUT THE CLIMATE CRISIS
“Climate change is now reaching the end-game… The issue is the very survival of our civilisation.” Prof Hans Joachim Schellnhuber.

“The facts about our ecological crisis are incontrovertible. We must take action” say notable leaders including previous Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/oct/26/facts-about-our-ecological-crisis-are-incontrovertible-we-must-take-action

2019 is arguably our last chance to drive policy and culture change so as to achieve the ambitious targets set out in the UN’s IPCC 2018 report which describes the enormous harm that anything above a 1.5°C rise in global temperature would cause. It told us that limiting to 1.5°C may still be possible yet requires “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society”.

The problem though: we’re not on track. Carbon emissions haven’t stopped rising and temperatures are heading towards 3°C. If we continue on our current course, future changes in climate could be dramatically abrupt and irreversible, seeing mass migrations, crop failures and unprecedented disasters. This is already putting pressures on the ecology, with 200 species going extinct every day due to habitat loss as well as change in climate. A 2018 study of British mammals found that 1 in 5 could be extinct within a decade.

It’s time to increase ways to shift the global narrative and generate the necessary political will.

GéNIA, composer and pianist

‘When I was invited to take part in this event I was both, delighted and honoured. My reasons are “Artists these days have far more powerful voices than many politicians and therefore we can make a real difference! The planet needs us more than ever to save it! I personally thank it every day for having all us here, giving us ‘home’ in a real sense and cannot wait to connect with my audience on this special day!” ❤️

GéNIA will be playing her compositions from her new album ‘Babylon’ , especially as the ethos of her new album is so closely aligned with the cause of this event.

New Show is Announced! GéNIA: Babylon

The tickets will go on sale for general public on the 1st April 2019 here

Described by The Times as ‘an outstanding musician’, the Russian born composer and a concert pianist GéNIA has had to announce another show as a result of her sold out performance of ‘Babylon’ earlier this year. The show is celebrating the launch of GéNIA’s new album ‘Babylon’, which is released on the 29 March as a musical reference to the historical period during which the glowing Babylon region progressed to the most advanced level, only to be destroyed by its own residents, those who wish to listen to the album can use the Youtube to Mp3 to download the songs.

By drawing attention to the past, GéNIA hopes that her audience will become more aware of the parallels to events which our society is going through today, in order to prevent the decline of its current highly advanced state.

Two of the pieces from the album enjoyed placements in the critically acclaimed BBC America TV Series ‘Killing Eve’ and the popular British TV Series ‘Cold Feet’.

Acknowledging her cultural inheritance, GéNIA would also like to include in the concert some of the popular classical works which influenced her as a composer, as she strongly believes that beautiful music is always currant, and there is no need to separate classical and contemporary genres for her audience.

An enigma in the music world, GéNIA loves to blur the boundaries between classical and popular music. Her music has been broadcast on Classic FM, BBC Radio 2, 3, 4, BBC Radio London 94.9 and BBC Proms, with London performances at the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Southbank Centre, Olympia, Kings Place, St John’s Smith Square and St Martin-in-the-Fields, to name just a few.

Date: 9 May 2019/ Time 8:00pm Address: The Other Palace, 12 Palace Street, London, SW1E 5JA Tickets: £20.00 booked via the venue

Xacutti Productions and GéNIA MUSIC are proud to present two exciting releases. ‘Aphrodite’ by GéNIA for solo piano and ‘GéNIA x VOID Aphrodite Redux’

Xacutti Productions and GéNIA MUSIC are proud to present two exciting releases.

‘Aphrodite’ by GéNIA for solo piano and ‘GéNIA x VOID Aphrodite Redux’

‘Aphrodite’

This original piano piece was inspired by the story of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, who, according to Plato’s popular legend, was born in the foamy crests of the Aegean Sea. The captivating image of this beautiful woman rising through the waves was the original incentive behind the music.

With Aphrodite being also a goddess of pleasure and procreation, GéNIA , as composer, sought to convey all the dynamic qualities of such a character, once again holding with her ethos of writing beautiful music which encourages people to connect with their inner selves.

Performed on a 1922 Steinway D grand piano at Sleeper Sounds, a studio founded and owned by renowned songwriter and producer Guy Chambers, the instrument brings a hauntingly beautiful tone and feel to the track.

Available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and many other digital platforms.

‘GéNIA X VOID Aphrodite Redux’

UK based band VOID discovered GéNIA ‘s original piano recording of Aphrodite during a visit to their publishing company’s offices in Central London.

Struck by the tenderness, sensitivity and fragility of what they had heard, the band sought to remix the track, instilling it with their unique and highly atmospheric presence.

VOID are an anonymous ‘faceless’ band with a focus on promoting mental health awareness online, both band members having already faced their own personal struggles at a young age. VOID are not seeking conventional ‘fame’, but are simply looking to share their music as widely as possible, allowing others to find calm, solace and comfort through their pieces. Follow Void on their social media platforms (Twitter & Instagram), as they are active and very inspiring.

GéNIA was absolutely blown away but the VOID redux and is very confident that her audience will be delighted to discover this new wonderful band and listen to more their compositions.

Available on iTunes. Amazon, Spotify and many other digital platforms.

GéNIA was born in the Ukraine and was trained as a concert pianist from the age of 4. During her studies she was awarded a scholarship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and since then, has chosen to make London her home.

Known worldwide for her contemporary and classical concerts, multimedia events and pop-up shows, she is a driving force in new music, injecting an exciting modern twist into the classical music scene.

GéNIA is also the founder of Piano-Yoga®, a unique holistic method of playing and teaching which she runs from her central London studio.

‘Aphrodite’ is a track from GéNIA’s upcoming album ‘Babylon’ scheduled for release later in the year.

GéNIA releases ‘Babylon’ music score

Following many requests, I am delighted to announce the release of the ‘Babylon’ music score. Aimed at the intermediate to advanced players, I took the time to edit the score to the finest detail. The score can be purchased from this website.

The name ‘Babylon’ was chosen as a historical reference to Babylon’s development to the most advanced level across various periods, in culture, art, science, architecture, commerce and other disciplines, during which it kept getting attacked, and was ultimately destroyed. As a result, all the wonders of the Hanging Gardens, proclaimed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the reputation of the region as the highest centre of learning and scientific understanding as well as a highly successful commercial centre, were destroyed.
I hope that by drawing attention to the past, people will be made more aware of the parallel with what we are going through in our society today.

The track is available on iTunesAmazon,  GooglePlay as well as on Spotify and many other digital channels.

Enjoy!

I am happy to announce the participation in The Soho Music Festival: 16 June 2018

I am delighted to announce that I will be opening The Soho Music Festival on the 16 June!

Soho – an area synonymous with great music venues and historic gigs. An area where the likes of Hendrix, The Who and Zeppelin cut their teeth – and where to this day wonderful concerts happen nightly. But there are fears – Gentrification is the word on many lips. As bulldozers move onto Denmark Street and the last live music venue closes on London’s Tin Pan Alley. Now it’s time to reverse the trend. Aligned with the Mayor’s #SoundsLikeLondon event taking place throughout June and as part of Music Venue Trust’s Fightback London campaign to support independent venues, I was delighted to be invited by TALENTBANQ Music Agency to participate in opening The Soho Music Festival : A one day celebration of independent music and musicians to be held at one of Soho’s most famous addresses. A festival that is designed to grow over the next three years to bring back music to basements, small rooms and rooftops in the bohemian district flanked by Oxford Street and Shaftesbury Avenue.TALENTBANQ has programmed 12 hours of live music to take place in The Salon Noir, Salon Vert and The Library at L’Escargot on Greek Street. Heralded as one of the capitals finest French restaurants, its upstairs rooms whisper the stories of times gone-by and provide exquisitely intimate spaces to discover new music. From 11am to 11pm L’Escargot will be host to no less than 10 red hot, breaking acts – each chosen for their ability to deliver exceptional live performance. Uniquely the day will be divided into three sessions, where the audience moves from room to room.

The artistic line up ranges from Classical Crossover Piano , through Tango, to UK County , Swing, Rock and possibly the wildest Celtic harp ever to grace a stage. All this plus of course an after-party because in Soho when the music stops, the music starts!

Naturally there’s a chance to eat some very fine food and thanks to sponsors Casanova and D1 the afternoon session is preceded by an ice cold glass of Casanova Prosecco, and the evening session with a long D1 London Gin cocktail.

To read all the nitty gritty details of the day and to book your tickets please visit Talentbanq website . I can tell you that my set will start in the morning as I will be one of the few musicians opening the Festival at 11am. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Love,
GéNIA

Screening of 22:22

'Tom bubbles wider medium' from the film 22:22

Following GéNIA’s debut as a voice-over artist, as well as her performance on the soundtrack for the film 22:22, there will be a screening of the film at Rio Cinema, Dalston, London on the 22nd April at 4pm. This short film was made by the British director Charlotte Ginsborg, with music by Gabriel Prokofiev and choreography by Kirill Burlov. GéNIA enjoyed her collaboration with the director, choreographer and dancers, and especially with the composer Gabriel Prokofiev, continuing their creative collaboration, which has been going for many years now. GéNIA also enjoyed the role of voice-over artist for the film, telling the story behind the scenes during the whole movie, as it brought back memories of the times  when she performed as an actor in her native Ukraine.

Synopsis

22:22 paints a vivid portrait of Tom Sietas, a world record holder in static apnea, (holding one’s breath underwater). His record stands at a phenomenal 22 minutes 22 seconds. The film combines evocative underwater photography of a record attempt with a contemporary dance performed to a live piano score that were devised for the film. As the tension of the record attempt mounts the story that links the two activities is revealed through the pianist’s live narration. The film interweaves documentary and fiction to reveal what drives Tom to push his body to such extraordinary physical extremes. For Tom, to deny breath is to ultimately find life.

Looking Back at GéNIA’s performance at the Worldwide Cafe at the BBC Broadcasting House

We have been so busy here, at GéNIA MUSIC, that we forgot to publish some of the wonderful pictures from GéNIA’s performance for Nordoff Robbins Charity in September 2017 at the Worldwide Cafe (Caffe Nero) BBC Broadcasting House. Presented by the lovely Radio and TV presenter Jo Good, GéNIA’s performance attracted a lovely audience, that included BBC London Radio 94.9 Listeners, where GéNIA often appears, journalists, GéNIA’s fans and guests of the capital.

Here is some of the audience feedback from the concert:

‘Wow! What a wonderful treat. I wandered into Caffe Nero today and heard the most beautiful music – thank you GéNIA! I can’t wait for Babylon to be released’ Charley, London

‘That was so amazing. I am so glad i heard from Jo (Jo Good) yesterday that you were playing here. It was worth missing breakfast to get here on time. It was a privilege to hear you play. Enjoy life and keep making people happy’. Sue, London

“So glad I heard about this wonderful performance on Jo’s show yesterday and made an effort to get here. Many thanks’ Liz
